Lamkhaga Pass Trek is a remote trail that acts as a bridge between Sangla in Himachal Pradesh and Harsil in Garhwal, Uttarakhand. It is remote trail passing through valleys of Kinnaur and Garhwal. The Lamkhaga Pass is at an elevation of 5,282 meters, is one of the high altitude mountain passes. It is one of the toughest treks in the Indian Himalayan region in the Garhwal Himalaya.

● Dense forest of Deodar, Pine and Bhojpatra

It’s a 7-8 days trek with a boulder strewn terrain which makes it a difficult with some challenging stretches. Lamkhaga Pass trek difficulty is moderate to difficult. Located at a height of 17320 feet, the trek to this pass can be attempted from either side. Chitkul (Last village of Sangla valley in Himachal) to Harshil or Harsil to Chitkul. Most of the trek is around the Indo-Tibetan border. You will need an Inner-line permit from district administration to do this trek.

  • Day 6: Gundar – Lamkhaga Pass Base Camp
  • Day 7: Lamkhaga Pass Base Camp – Basecamp II
  • Day 8: Basecamp II – Lamkhaga Pass – Basecamp III
  • Day 9: Basecamp III – Kyorkati
  • Day 10: Kyorkati – Harsil

How to Reach?

Chitkul:
Chitkul is the last village of Sangla valley in Himachal. It is unexplored to the many travelers. You will pass through Narkanda, Ramnagar, Reckong Peo, Sangla, and Rackcham before you reach Chitkul. You will have to reach Shimla, from there you will have multiple options of shared jeeps and buses for Chitkul. There are home stays available there is Zostel in Chitkul.

Harsil:
Harsil is the unspoiled and unexplored jewel of Uttarakhand, which is located on the banks of river Bhagirathi. There is no direct bus/train to Harshil from Delhi. You have to reach Dehradun or Haridwar from Delhi. From this two places you will have multiple options of shared jeeps and buses to Harsil. Once there you will have plenty of options to stay.


ATM and Mobile Connectivity

Mobile Connectivity:
Your device will receive BSNL signals at Chitkul and Harshil, there will be no networks ahead during the trek (Chitkul and Harshil).

ATM:
On Chitkul side last ATM is at Reckong Peo, Sangla
On Harshil side the last ATM point is Uttarkashi.

Petrol Pump:
On Chitkul side last nearest petrol pump is at Sangla
On Harshil side last nearest petrol pump is at Uttrakshi
